THERE’S A new player in town, and its name is AirsoftRepublik.
Airsoftrepublik.com went online just this September, and this new place-to-be in the pinoy online airsoft community says that it was not established to rival the FAS forum (filairsoft.com).
“We just want to share the new ideas by showing freedom of choice and expression,” its ‘admin’ named Emilio Aguinaldo explained to Iliganairsoft. “AirsoftRepublik was created to bring more interest to the airsoft community.”
That may be so, but a quick look at comments on the forum threads reveals a story of a “rebellion” of sorts from an oppressive (unfair?) establishment that ends in the “pag-tatag ng bagong Republika” [establishment of a new Republic].
One comment reads: “Natuto na tayo dun sa dati ngayon naging leksyon satin lahat kaya magtulungan tayo na ayusin itong bagong samahan na to…”
When asked what AirsoftRepublik aimed for, Aguinaldo said, “We strive for and live by the principles of respect, integrity, and patriotism.”
And patriotism is indeed one of the first things a visitor to AirsoftRepublik would notice. The ‘admins’ of the forum, as well as some members, adopt names like, Jose Rizal, Gen. Trias, Katipunero, Supremo, KKK.
But beyond the patriotic names, there seems to be little else worth mentioning about airsoftrepublik.com that makes it different from Filairsoft.com. (In fact, the two sites look very similar, save for the color schemes. Both are powered by the forum software, vBulletin.)
Well, except maybe for the promise of a more professional approach to running an online airsoft forum. Only time can tell.
