Admit it. We all wanna look like these guys.

DECKED out in full US military Special Forces garb and proudly wearing an American flag patch, this guy walking is obviously not a JOLOG player.

He doesn’t have the height of a foreigner, though; and that brown complexion is a dead give away tsk…tsk…

This patch is ok–if you’re American.

Anyway, as he passes me, he pauses, regards me with a disdainful look, and mutters under his breath: “jo-log…” He then casually goes on his way.

In my hazy understanding of that tagalog slang word, I just knew he didn’t mean it in a nice way. There were many things I could have said about his sense of PATRIOTISM, though. (Actually, I couldn’t get that picture of an American flag patch on a pinoy wanna-be soldier out of my head until now.)

Anyway, what gives if I’m wearing shorts and running shoes? If I’m going to be doing a lot of running, I might as well wear the right outfit, right?

Besides, we’re not at some gray urban jungle where that expensive BDU would blend in. We’re just here at home base on a weekend. And here’s news for you—No one’s watching!

But don’t get me wrong, I do agree 100% that teams should be in uniform during tournaments. However, insisting on those jungle fatigues or desert BDUs do not help to give you that blend-into-the-background advantage. It’s CQB behind plywood covers, dude.

That beautiful contractor look. (And she got the patch right.)

And I guess this explains the growing preference for the Security Contractor Look.

Filipino Airsofters, I believe, have become increasingly conscious about dressing and appearing like soldiers of foreign countries.

The contractor look just fits us perfectly. Nationality is not announced by this outfit, except for the patches. And that can easily be remedied.

Pinoys can hide their cute noses and round eyes behind a mask all day long, but uniforms don’t hide height or color. So, might as well give the I-wanna-look-like-Uncle-Sam’s-soldier-boy attitude a rest.

To be a Filipino airsofter, look like one.

Ethnic look, anyone?

THAT CONTRACTOR PIC ABOVE LOOKS DAMN GOOD TO ME…hmm must be the lady insde the suit 😉

  2. Recommendation is fair. But that would severely limit this blog’s reach.

And the sharp words you’re referring to are not mine, they’re from another person who left his comment here.

Anyway, thanks for the well wishes for this site.

I hope you visit again as I will be posting features on Iligan teams, airsoft businesses and other airsoft related stuff here in the near future.

So what’s the big deal with the american flag patch? So what if I want to look like my childhood cartoon hero GI Joe, a US marine, a CAFGU or your favorite modern day villain Kadafi Janjalani. After all airsoft is suppose to be for mature people like us, to have a chance to become kids again, to have some fun. So don’t take that small simple patch seriously, it is only an accessory. There are more sensible things to be posted on your very cool page other than that. One last thing guys, please dont talk about patriotism here. You don’t have a clue what patriotism is.

    • You are correct, sir. Airsoft gives us a chance to be kids again. It is realy make-believe as you pointed out.

The article is an attempt at getting pinoy airsofters to be more interested in local models – be it a CAFGU member (that’s a good idea, actually) or what have you. I have even toyed with the idea of calling an airsoft team Tanod.

As for patriotism, it’s true our efforts do not compare to those who have shed blood for this country, but it should not stop us from asserting it all the same. Even in small ways.

Lastly, I’d like to thank you for your comments. It’s actually the 1st serious one I got here. Even though it disagrees with my point, it is very much welcome.

      • Abdullah says:

I clearly understood your campaign sir. Salute to that! Would it be much safer if we start that so called “asserting in small ways”, by writing this article in our local dialect and start patriotism in oneself than mind other players patches? Well, just a recommendation.

Embarrassing practice and misguided? Sharp words you’ve got there brother.

More power to this sight and happy playing coys.

any ideas for a ‘localized’ airsoft outfit aside from the pic above? i dont wanna have a “chicken pox” look after skirmishes.

    definitely correct!…

  7. Felixthecat says:

I don’t play airsoft but you are correct in pointing out this embarrassing practice of some airsofters. They are misguided.

  8. That’s right, Dex 😉 Just making a statement there. I hope to inspire pinoy airsoft teams to go local.
